The Legend of Blackways Cove
Blackways cove can be found close to the North Cornwall beach of Trebarwith Strand, near Tintagel. It is a isolated inlet within the coast and is beleived to be heavily haunted.
Although this is so, the identity of the ghost remains unknown. Speculation suggests that the ghosts could be those of drowned sailors who lost their lives at sea, but the most common theory is that is the restless spirit of a local man doomed to haunt the scene of his crime.
It is said that many years ago a man farmed in the vicinity of Blackways Cove. He is believed to have had two sons, who helped with the family business yet when he died he left his entire estate to the eldest son, leaving the younger one without a penny.
The younger son is said to have been racked with jealousy and disappeared for many years. Over time the jealousy grew until it became an obsession until, and eventually he set out to wreak revenge on his elder brother.
One night he crept onto the farm and set fire to all the buildings and barns. The blaze took hold and the entire farm, along with the farmhouse completely burned down.
The following day, however he discovered that his brother had died some weeks ago, and left the entire estate to him.
Racked with guilt, it is suggested that the younger brother took his own life and that his lonely spirit still wanders around the farm and Blackways Cove to this day. Crying and moaning is often heard in the vicinity and visitors often feel the presence of another being around them.
